PARENT RESPECT IN SPORT CLINIC LINK (Richmond Hill Hockey)

PrintPARENT RESPECT IN SPORT CLINIC LINK
Effective August 31, 2014, in addition to Team Officials, the OMHA will require all On-ice Volunteers, On-Ice Officials and Parents to take the appropriate ‘Respect’ education.  At least one parent or guardian of each player registered in minor hockey in the OMHA will need to complete the online Respect In Sport Parent Program as a condition of participation. The program is a proactive, educational program that empowers parents with the tools to ensure the game is enjoyable and respectful for themselves, their children and all other stakeholders in the  game.

The Respect in Sport Program for Parents is a unique, in-depth 1 hour online program geared to providing the parent with information on how to evaluate and understand:
*  Parental influence over a child
*  Coach and leader roles in sport
*  Role of the parent and coach in ensuring a child’s enjoyment of a sport
*  Protecting your child when outside of your immediate control
*  Concussion awareness & Return to Play guidelines
*  Long-Term Player Development (LTPD) model

Moving forward as leaders in the game, the OMHA will move to become a complete ‘Respect’ integrated association effective the 2014-2015 season.

All players will need to have a minimum of one parent/guardian take the clinic prior to being able to participate in the OMHA.  The cost of the on-line clinic is $12.00 (per family - no matter how many children you have playing) and contrary to popular belief the OMHA does not receive the $12.00, nor does Richmond Hill Hockey Association. Please see document below outlining where the fees are allocated to.

On a personal note, although my son has long since finished minor hockey I took the clinic myself so that I can understand and answer any questions parents may have.  I was very impressed!  The clinic is very easy to follow and understand and is very interesting.  Every parent involved in any children sport or activity will be able to relate and understand, and learn.  The clinic does not have to be done in one sitting, you can stop and pick up where you left off at a later date.  While it is mandatory only for one parent to complete the clinic, I would highly advise BOTH parents do it - and there is no extra charge - just log into the same account.

For any REP parent this clinic must be completed asap in order for your player to be approved on an OMHA roster. House League & Local League parents should complete the clinic immediately after registering your player.  If your clinic is not complete by Oct 15 then your player will be unable to participate until completed.
