REFEREE INFORMATION 

The Richmond Hill Hockey Referees’ Association (RHHRA) is an association within the Richmond Hill Hockey Association (RHHA).  The RHHRA responsibilities include administering, scheduling, and developing referees.  This is achieved through development, promotion and assigning features.  A structured and organized officiating association is crucial for the success of any organized minor hockey program.  The Richmond Hill Hockey Referees’ Association’s primary function is the assignment of quality officiating which is in the best interest of the players, coaches, spectators, the RHHA, and the referees.

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Richmond Hill Hockey Referees’ Association is to establish an organization which will concentrate on the development of referees through guidance of quality and responsible leadership within the guidelines established by the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) and Hockey Canada (HC).

RESPONSIBILITIES

The following is a list of responsibilities which each member of the RHHRA is expected to adhere to:

ATTITUDE:
Each member of the RHHRA must act and carry out their duties as an official in a way respectable to the RHHA and the RHHRA.

APPEARANCE:
Each member of the RHHRA is responsible for maintaining a neat appearance and the proper dress as specified by the membership of the RHHRA.

OFFICIATING:
Each member of the RHHRA is responsible for sound and thorough knowledge of the HC and OMHA hockey rules and the proper application of these rules.

MEETINGS:
Each member of the RHHRA is responsible for attendance at meetings conducted by the RHHRA.

SCHEDULES:
It is the responsibility of each member of the RHHRA to be aware of their schedules and to ensure their scheduled games are not missed.

As stated in the purpose of the RHHRA its intention is to develop young and promising referees into quality officials.  The RHHRA intends to make this dimension of officiating the focus of its work.  The referee development program will be highlighted by the establishment of clinics, meetings and evaluations.
