Atom AE, 2017-2018, AE (Richmond Hill Hockey)

The Richmond Hill Stars played outdoor hockey against the Markham Waxers in the first ever Outdoor Classic game between these two teams. The weather was perfect for the friendly game and the kids had a memorable time. To top it off, our Stars defeated the Waxers 4-3 in a thrilling game.  Afterwards both teams enjoyed hot chocolate, marshmallows and Timbits in the change room.  The kids won't remember the score but they will treasure the experience of playing outdoor hockey! The ATOM AE team spent time volunteering at the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank as a way of giving back to those in need during this special time of the year. The players and a few parent volunteers sorted and stocked the shelves with the canned goods that the team collected and donated, helping to feed families and children with the most basic item in life: nourishment.

Congratulations to the players, parents and coaches on winning the 2017 Bradford Blue & Gold Classic Tournament.  After starting with an 11-2 loss against the defending OMHA Champions, the players came together and fought for the final play-off spot. In the semi-finals, the team avenged the opening loss by coming from behind to beat Oakville Rangers 3-2 in double overtime! In the finals, once again they came from behind to beat a tough Waterloo Wolves squad, 3-2! CONGRATULATIONS ATOM AE CHAMPS!

After a successful training camp, the 2017/18 ATOM AE team is ready to get the hockey campaign underway with a four game exhibition series, followed by the Milton Winterhawks Early Bird Tournament (September 15 - 17).
