Finland vs. Richmond Hill Stars Minor Peewee AE
The Richmond Hill Stars Minor Peewee team represented Canada in a friendly exhibition game against Blues Junior ry ESPOO from Finland. The game was followed by a “Canadian Pizza Party” as both players and parents engaged in a cultural exchange session, learning about each other’s country, food, weather and school system. They also swapped team banners, pins and Fortnite usernames!

The Finnish team put on a clinic and played with fantastic European flare, dominating puck possession and shots on net. The Stars worked hard but struggled to find their form as this was the first time the team laced it up after a 2-week Holiday.

We want to thank the coaches, managers, players and families from both teams for making this event a memorable experience for all involved. We would like to especially thank Deputy Mayor for the Town of Richmond Hill Carmine Perrelli for coming out and showing his support for grassroots hockey. Carmine brought Richmond Hill pins for both teams and arranged a special cake for one of the Finnish players who was celebrating his birthday.

We are so proud of the Stars players who were great ambassadors for the game, the Town of Richmond Hill and our great country we call Canada.

As for the score? Well, let’s just say we know how the Washington Generals feel after a game against the Harlem Globetrotters!
